Alea Casino, Leeds

Litetask has had great pleasure in supplying the lighting for the recently opened entertainment centre, Alea Leeds. Owned by London Clubs International it becomes their 11th venue in the UK and the 3rd ‘Alea’. Working with Lee Garbutt of Cannock Electrical, the electrical contractor for the project, Mark McDonnell of Litetask was set the task of sourcing a range of light fittings that not only complied with the lighting design but also had to met with both a stringent financial budget and tight delivery timescale.
The result was a spectacular ‘energetic and vibrant’ lighting scheme which complements what is a truly magnificent new building; moreover we delivered on time and within budget. A wide range of different manufacturers were used including recessed luminaires by the internationally renowned Belgium lighting manufacturer, Deltalight, renowned for their quality and the originality of their luminaire design. These were complemented by a range of LED luminaires which provide the colour and ‘wow’ factor to the lighting scheme and were supplied by Fibre Optic Systems and some highly original decorative pendants from Cameron Peters.
This brand new venue is situated in the heart of Leeds in Clarence Dock, close to the famous Royal Armouries Museum (another Litetask project); it is part of an exciting urban regeneration project which includes shops, restaurants, bars, hotels and residences. Built on 4 floors Alea Leeds is a not just a casino but a multi faceted entertainment complex. The 1700 capacity venue houses six bars, two restaurants, a luxurious events space, two state of the art gaming floors, a self contained gaming suite a sumptuous 52-seater private cinema and full conference facilities. Now opened, Alea is destined to quickly become Leeds premier ‘Nite Spot’.
