Intercontinental Hotel, Vienna

The brief for this project was to create a bright and lively exterior to transform what looked like a dull 1960’s office block into a 'welcoming island floating on a sea of light'. The final design, developed with Ashleigh Signs, incorporated a floodlighting scheme that highlighted the vertical architectural features of the building. 400 watt, narrow beam Meyer floodlights were installed by a team of specially trained abseilers!

The floodlighting was complemented by the use, at lower levels, of a 'blue' feature lighting scheme that utilised a variety of luminaires and lamp sources including both metal halide and LED.

Ashleigh Signs also created an impressive entrance to this prestigious hotel by designing a new entrance canopy and signage, with a lighting scheme produced by Liteideas.

Ashleigh Signs won the prestigious BSGA 'Illuminated Sign of the Year Award for 2005' for the lighting and signage scheme on this site.
